We are a diverse coalition of folks, not just older, who recognize that illness is never a reason to commit suicide.
We recognize what Elizabeth- Kubler Ross pointed out years ago in On Death and Dying: "The most powerful emotions we will ever face come when you are given a terminal diagnosis. Denial/Anger/Bargaining/Depression and then after overcoming those, one can come to Acceptance. Embracing Assisted Suicide is surrendering to the very emotions that we are warned we must be prepared for and must help others cope with.
Assisted suicide is not caring for someone, it is the simplest way to no longer care for someone."
